This season of college football has been strange to say the least.

As the No. 25 Oregon Ducks (4-2) are preparing to face the No. 10 Iowa State Cyclones in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl on Saturday, January 2, this may not be the last game that the seniors will play in an Oregon football uniform.

To entice players to play in the 2020 college football season, the NCAA has given a free year for players, who will not lose a year of eligibility regardless of snaps played this season.

On Tuesday, senior defensive tackle Jordon Scott announced that this was going to be his last game at Oregon while senior corner Dede Lenoir is still undecided.

Another senior, wide receiver Johnny Johnson III, was asked the same question on Wednesday during bowl game availability.

“I’ve had some thought going into it but it hasn’t really been on my mind, main focus. I’ve just been focusing on this game and playing my best football while I’m still here.

I haven’t made that decision yet.

WR @johnnny_yamms is still considering whether to return for another season next fall. Said it won’t come down just to draft projections, but also goals he had at Oregon that might still be out there. “There’s going to be a lot of things that go into it,” he said. #GoDucks

The 6’0”, 200-pound wide receiver began his Oregon career on a rocky note. Johnson’s workload in his first two seasons limited due to the number of drops and depth on the organizational charts. The offseason after the 2018 season was the best of his career. He focused on his hands and it paid off.

In 2019, Johnson recorded 57 catches for 836 yards and seven touchdowns.

He was one of two players in program history with 200 yards receiving in a road game (10 catches for 207 yards and two touchdowns at Arizona State on 11/23/2019).

Should Johnson return to Oregon for a ‘super senior’ year, the wide receiver room will be one of the deepest in program history featuring Devon Williams, Mycah Pittman, Kris Hutson, Justin Collins, Josh Delgado, JR Waters, Lance Wilhoite, Isaac Crocker, Troy Franklin, Isaiah Brevard and Dont’e Thornton.
